Bible help?
Does anyone have a good site for searching Bible verses? I used to use biblegateway.com, but it appears that no one has the rights to post any non-King James Version scripture online. This is a day I could use some scripture.
I have the perfect blog post marinating about how food can be a taste of heaven. Because right now, in the midst of a stressful, burdensome afternoon, I opened up a package of Costa Rican dark chocolates given to me by a dear friend, and they’re like a ray of guava jelly-filled light into my life. Seriously. The sweet goodness kicked my blood sugar up a notch, probably boosted my life meter with a jolt of caffeine, and even turned my eyes to things above, as I thanked God for the chocolate and the friend who gave them to me.
I think there’s a verse in Isaiah, possibly, about a heavenly feast … and Jesus was at the wedding feast, enjoying himself and hopefully seconds of his favorite dish … Not in a gluttonous way, but a non-legalistic, live-life-to-the-fullest way. And let’s not forget when he broke bread on his last night, saying the next time his disciples did that, they’d be with him in heaven. There’s a connection between feasting and heaven.
But this is one of the verses I get, when I search “feast” on a King James Version site:
“Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices.” (KJV) (Isaiah 29:1)
I’d venture to say when Jesus said, “Seek and you will find,” he didn’t mean “type key words into bing.com and you will find appropriate scripture in your preferred translation.”
I guess my blogging attempts are thwarted, and it’s time to get back to the stack of stress on my desk. I need another piece of chocolate.
Is it Isaiah 25:6? I did a google search for: Isaiah feast , and a couple of verses.
e-sword.net has some software which rules! You can load up like 500 different bibles…. great search utilities and etc. Highly recommend it.
amen, sister! i love you too. i definitely treated myself to some chocolate yesterday morning…
Yes! I think that’s it. Thanks!
“In Jerusalem,[a] the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will spread a wonderful feast
for all the people of the world.
It will be a delicious banquet
with clear, well-aged wine and choice meat.”
Isaiah 25: 6
