My first post.

Here I am to blog. With only my new Mac standing in my way. I’ve struggled through the weekend to set up my wireless Internet, to no avail. I would throw my Mac through the window if I were a violent person, it weren’t so expensive, and I didn’t have to worry about cleaning up broken glass.

Maybe I’ll just pitch my chunky, old-school Dell laptop through the window. Forever marked with my last name in big, bold marker, that laptop saw me through college and beyond. While packing to move 1,000 miles from home, my mom labeled everything she could get her hands on with my last name. That’s the best way to make new friends in a scary place, as well as ensure that they don’t steal any of my things. Who doesn’t want to be friends with an anal freshman who labels everything from a TV down to her socks? And who also mentions the need for a list of rules, like when to go to bed, during the pre-meet phone conversation with future roommates. I did that too.

So until I get my wireless working, I’ll post a few former blog entries, so this one doesn’t feel lonely.

That was a great introductory post! I can’t wait to read your other posts.

I think it’s funny that your mom labeled everything for you. My parents never did. I think it’s because my brother and I swapped stuff so often that we never really knew who’s was what anyway.

    Congrats on the new Mac!

    Ah, the memories…

My mom insisted that everything of mine be labeled before going off to places such as camp and school. I hated that. There was just something about seeing my name on the Fruit of the Loom label on my underwear that creeped me out. We used to argue endlessly about it. My mom would win, of course, playing the “parent” card. Parents tend to do that.

Glad to see there’s another Mac user! I recently converted to the Mac world by way of a spiffy new MacBook Pro. I’m loving every minute of it, hoping never to have to go back to just a clunky Windows machine again.

p.s. my Dad scratched my driver’s license number onto the lid of my laptop before I went to college. At least I could have removed the permanent marker with fingernail polish if only I had the option…

Sadly, I’m from the REALLY old school – I had a stamp with my name on it – I stamped the ink and then everything else in sight before going to college. One time, I thought I was humorous and stamped every 4th square of toilet paper – letting my suite mates know I was also frugal. It became a running (running – ha) joke!

Hi, nice meeting you. I am impressed. You received comments on your first blog ever. Me, I have posted six so far on blogger.com and I received zero responses. Then I bought your book. I am anxious to start reading it, hoping for some insight in the “how to”. My husband is writing a fiction adventure book and you can see where this is leading, I am sure. I want to find a community that I can address with the future interest in the novel. Anyway, I am looking forward to reading your book.

    Kind greetings,
    Sonja
